Simon Tarr is an artist, inventor, and teacher.

Since accidentally melting his first handmade film at the age of eight, Simon has screened his films and chamber cinema performances on every continent (yes, even Antarctica).

Prior to his appointment as the Dean of the Honors College at Regent University, Simon has been an award-winning professor, served as Director of Undergraduate Studies and Director of Special Recruiting Initiatives at the University of South Carolina, and was the founding Faculty Principal of the Rhodos Fellows Learning Community for Information, Design, and Computing. He specializes in transformative experiences for students in transition.

He has served as a citizen-artist-ambassador for the U.S. Department of State and has been appointed by two successive Librarians of Congress to the National Film Preservation Board. Whether at his home institution or as a visitor, he leads teams through periods of intensive growth and change while maintaining focus on intellectual rigor, professional achievement, and interpersonal compassion.
